Catchment to Reef

Catchment to Reef began as an $5 million joint initiative of the Australian Cooperative Research Centres for the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area (CRC Reef) and Tropical Rainforest Ecology and Management (Rainforest CRC), and involved a number of partner organisations.

The joint program was funded for three years (2003-2006) and built on stream and reef ecology research that the CRCs were doing independently, but also addressed the connectivity between catchments and reef waters.  Following the defunding and subsequent closure of the parent CRCs in September 2006, C2R-related research was taken up and continued by the Marine and Tropical Science Research Facility (MTSRF).
